Every Story Is Still Being Woven

Hello, I’m Carise Harper - creative soul, designer, content creator, and proud owner of Style by Carise LLC. Welcome! I’m truly so glad you’re here.

I have always believed that beautiful things can come from humble beginnings.

For as long as I can remember, I have looked at ordinary things and wondered what they could become. Scraps of fabric, bits of ribbon, beads, buttons, clay, wood, thread—nothing seemed too small or too insignificant to spark an idea. As a little girl, I turned old jeans into pillows, found ways to make clothes fit my tiny frame, and collected all kinds of little things simply because I could already see their potential. Creating wasn't a hobby I discovered later in life. It was simply the way I naturally moved through the world. Shopping was especially difficult because I could never just buy something as it was. I would immediately start imagining what I could add, remove, redesign, embellish, or completely reinvent. Apparently, I wasn't shopping - I was conducting unpaid product development. lol

That curiosity eventually led me to study textiles, apparel, and merchandising, earning my bachelor's degree and giving me the opportunity to turn something I had always loved into something I could truly understand as a craft and a profession. I learned about fabrics, construction, design, merchandising, and the many details that come together to create something that is not only beautiful, but thoughtfully made. But long before the classroom gave me the language for what I was doing, my hands already knew how to make.

And that creative spirit runs through my family.

Creativity runs deep in my family. I come from a long line of women who knew how to make something beautiful with what they had. One grandmother designed drapery. Another built a life in fashion retail. My great-grandmother spent more than fifty years sewing and crafting jewelry. Their creativity wasn't simply something they did—it was part of how they lived. They understood the value of making, of learning a skill, of taking an idea and giving it form. They built meaningful lives through the work of their hands. I carry pieces of each of them with me every time I create.

That legacy is one of the reasons I believe so strongly in the beauty of handmade things.

There is something special about starting with a simple piece of fabric, a length of thread, a piece of leather, a little clay, a sheet of wood, or a handful of beads and imagining what those pieces could become. On their own, they are just materials. But in the hands of a designer, they can become something with shape, purpose, personality, and meaning.

Over the years, Style by Carise has grown beyond the products I create by hand. What began as a love for fashion and design has evolved into a creative business where e-commerce and media come together—giving me room to design, create, tell stories, share ideas, and explore the many ways creativity can become a life and a career.

That transformation is at the heart of Style by Carise, LLC.

I create because I love the process of taking something ordinary and giving it another life. I love the details that most people may never notice—the texture of a material, the way a seam comes together, the weight of a piece in your hand, the little surprise hidden inside a design. I love the patience that good craftsmanship requires. Most of all, I love knowing that something began as an idea in my mind and eventually became something real enough for another person to hold, wear, use, and make part of their own life.

But somewhere along the way, I began to understand that this process of creating was about much more than design.

A few years ago, my own life was pulled apart in ways I never expected. I suffered a hand injury that nearly severed my thumb and left me unable to create by hand for more than a year. During that same season, I experienced the loss of all four of my grandparents, and not long after, I lost my father.

For someone who had spent her life creating with her hands, suddenly being unable to use them was difficult in ways that are hard to explain. The very thing that had always brought me joy became something I had to step away from. I had to sit with stillness. I had to grieve. I had to heal. And I had to trust God with a part of my identity that I had always associated so closely with what I could make.

In that season, something shifted in me.

I began to understand that my creativity was never simply about the things I could produce. It was a gift. And perhaps the purpose of that gift was bigger than I had understood before.

When I eventually began creating again, I didn't see my work the same way.

I saw the privilege in being able to use my hands. I saw the connection between what I was making and the women in my family who had made things before me. I saw how creativity could become a way to honor their memory and carry something forward. And I saw a reflection of something I had always believed: God is a Creator.

He takes what looks incomplete and brings it together.

He takes the unexpected pieces and gives them purpose.

He works in seasons we understand and seasons we don't.

Sometimes, when we're living through a difficult chapter, all we can see are loose threads. We don't know how the pieces will fit together or what the finished picture will look like. But I've learned that not seeing the whole picture doesn't mean there isn't one.

That belief is woven into everything I create.

At Style by Carise, I believe beauty doesn't require perfection. Some of the most meaningful things in life are shaped through change, patience, resilience, and time. The places where something has been repaired don't necessarily make it less beautiful. Sometimes they become part of what makes the story worth telling.

That is why faith, resilience, purpose, and legacy are so important to me.

They aren't simply words behind a business. They are part of the life that gave the business meaning.

Style by Carise is a celebration of style, but it is also a celebration of becoming. It is about the woman who is growing, rebuilding, dreaming, creating, and stepping into another season of her life. It is about allowing yourself to evolve without losing the pieces of who you have always been.

I want the things I create to live in that space.

I want them to be beautiful, but I also want them to feel intentional. I want you to notice the craftsmanship and appreciate the details. I want something you carry or wear to bring a little joy to an ordinary day or become connected to a moment you never forget.

Because the things we choose to surround ourselves with become part of our stories.

A bag can carry more than our belongings. Jewelry can become part of an outfit, a memory, a celebration, or a reminder of who we are. Something handmade can hold the quiet evidence that someone took the time to make it carefully.

That matters to me.

And perhaps that's why the metaphor of weaving has become so meaningful.

A single thread can seem insignificant. It can be easy to overlook. But bring enough threads together, give them direction, tension, structure, and time, and they become something completely different.

A life can be like that too.

Piece by piece, season by season, God continues to weave.

And I'm still being woven right along with it.

Today, I create with a deeper appreciation for the gift of making and a greater understanding of why I make. I create in honor of the people who taught me, in gratitude for the hands that have been restored, and with faith in the things that have yet to take shape.

This is what Style by Carise means to me.

It is craftsmanship with intention. It is creativity with purpose. It is style with a story behind it. It is a continuation of a legacy that began long before I ever knew I would become a designer.

And it is an invitation to see beauty differently—not as something reserved for perfect circumstances, but as something that can emerge from ordinary materials, unexpected seasons, and lives that are still unfolding.

Because beautiful things are rarely created all at once.

They take patience.

They take intention.

They take time.

They are stitched together slowly, carefully, and sometimes in ways we don't understand until we can finally step back and see the whole picture.

One stitch.
One thread.
One season at a time.

Every story is still being woven.
